SXSW Killer Update

Posted on Updated on

This is a great example of how quickly the Texas justice system can work given a seriousness enough crime. Less than a month ago this guy, Rashad Owens, plowed into a large group of people celebrating at the SXSW festival in Austin killing four and injuring 20 others.

He was charged with capital murder, of course, but was also charged with 20 other counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  Anyhow he is set to appear in court for the capital murder charge on April 9th, which is fantastic.  The sooner Rashad Owens is sentenced the better.

It is really too bad that Rashad Owens threw his life away in that single moment of stupidity, he is only 21 years old.  He had so much ahead of him, I don’t understand how anyone could want to waste their chance at freedom and life like that. I just hope that he gets to spend some time staring into the eyes of the families he destroyed before they slam the prison doors on his face/or put him to death.  He deserves to know just how much he hurt innocent people by doing something so idiotic.
