School is out and now it is time for three month’s of entertaining your kids. What better way than by reading? That is by far one of my favorite activities so the summer reading programs are at the top of my kid’s to do list – and they aren’t even in school yet! Anyhow for those of you looking for some reading clubs for your young ones this break, here are a few to get you started!
Half Price Books is running a special that your child can earn $5.00 HPB bookworm bucks by finishing their reading list – you can pick up a copy at any location from now until July 31st when it ends.
H.E.B. – my favorite local grocery joint has a program that will reward your child with a fun t-shirt when you send in their finished list – you can print it out and mail it in – must by postmarked by October 1st – plenty of time!
Barnes and Noble has a program that your child can journal about their reading of 8 books and turn it in for a free book!
Scholastic offers a summer program that you can get rewards for logging time reading on their site.
You can’t leave local libraries off your reading list – they offer rewards like paperback books for finishing their lists- and even a signed certificate from the Mayor!
This is just a few of the many options available for summer reading for your children. Remember they lose a lot over the summer and reading is an engaging activity that can help grow an imagination! My kids have already started their summer reading contests, and love it! 🙂
