Veteran’s Day!!

Posted on Updated on

Thanks to Congressional Act (52 Stat. 351; 5 U.S. Code, Sec. 87a) approved May 13, 1938, the 11th of November every year is now a legal holiday: “a day to be dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be thereafter celebrated and known as ‘Armistice Day’.”  The proclamation had actually been in the works for 7+ years before being made official, such a long time for such a deserved day.

I am lucky, of the four parents that I have, both of my birth parents are veterans.  I have been raised with a respect and appreciation for our military that I think is SEVERELY lacking in our country today.  When the flags go up and the National Anthem plays, I am PROUD to put my hand over my heart and sing (badly, but I blame genetics for that :))

There are so many people out there who daily put their life on the line not only for the law-abiding, hardworking citizens but also for the deadbeat’s, the lazy people who don’t want to lift a finger, for the criminals, the ones who feel laws don’t apply, for the children who have no idea what is going on, for the politicians, crooked or straight, who are trying to effectively run the country. They fight, they leave their families who they love and adore to fight a battle whether we deserve it or not.  The very least we can do is say thank-you.

Thank you for fighting for us. Thank-you for risking your life daily for us. Thank-you for giving up your precious time with family, friends, loved ones for us. Whether you support the causes that the military acts on or not, tell them THANK-YOU.  They DESERVE it.

My dad served 32 years in the navy. I love all servicemen and women, and veterans, yet I love Jesus even more: https://chrisaomministries.wordpress.com/2014/10/08/righteousness-exalts-a-nation/
