Thoughts on Universal City Dog Park

Posted on

Luna the husky is lucky that she lives in the suburbs of San Antonio, Texas as it allows her to see more than one type of dog park so she can make all kinds of puppy friends and do new things! Recently, one of the parks that we frequent was shut down though, as a strand of puppy cold that there is not a vaccine for was found, so it needed to be cleaned.
After a few weeks though, Universal City Dog Park has now re-opened and as it is the closest active park to our house, we were happy to stop by and see if the joint is jumping again.

San Diego Park Had Razor Blades “Planted” in Grass

Posted on

I just read an article that talked about how in San Diego at Bonita Cove Park, close to twenty razor blades were found in the grass. Apparently this had happened several times already, and yet in this case there were still children playing BAREFOOT in the park and got cut.

At what point is it time to find funding to install security equipment, or just shut the park down? I cannot believe that nothing has been done to prevent sickos from repeatedly performing the same act over and over again.

And this may just be a Texas thing, but I don’t let my kids run around ANYWHERE outside barefoot.  There are so many horrible things they can step on, there is a reason why we have shoes! Scorpions, snakes, wasp nests, fire ant hills – the list just goes on and on, apparently razor blades should be somewhere on it – even bare concrete is unadvised because it get so hot you can boil your feet!

How bored and crazy must someone be to take the time to place multiple blades out in a grassy area anyhow? Clearly someone has too much time on their hands.  And now that I am thinking about it, there was a park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa – my hometown – that was in the news recently with a similar event- blades taped onto the kids equipment I think.

Goosed By Geese!

Posted on Updated on

We finally got to go out and feed the ducks, one wonderful thing about San Antonio is the numerous amount of duck ponds they have so the duckies have a lovely place to live!

Me and My Dad

Mel (my wonderful step-mom) took some fantastic photos of our little adventure! Me and Dad sat down while Scott ran Nicolas to the potty, because of course the second we got to the pond he had to go! So Nana took some photos while Em ran down by the water to throw the food in and get the duckies to visit us.

Duck Feeding

After being successful Emileen came up to utilize the flock frenzy time by flinging as much food as she could at the mass! Meanwhile I sit and continue feeding the duckies who are coming out of the water…..

Geese!

I was so busy feeding the geese coming up the hill that I didn’t notice the sly beasts swarming from the side! They seemed so nice and calm at first, I was sucked in by their adorableness!

Geese Attack!

BAM! Mr. Goose goosed me on the lap! He didn’t want to wait his turn for bread so of course, I leaned ALL the way against Papa – he is lucky I didn’t leap onto his lap! Crazy geese!

Goose Stand Off

I ended up having to stand up, those geese were bullies! I showed them who was bigger though and they didn’t back off a bit…so we walked further on down the path….I still say I win! 🙂

What a fun afternoon! I highly recommend going to feed the ducks, they are such wonderful little creatures!
